Day 3 – Batur volcano climb
Early in the morning the volcano climb begins: after a short briefing at the meeting point, the roughly two-hour ascent leads to the summit by torchlight, accompanied by experienced local guides. At a small hut, hot tea and sandwiches are served. In the light of the rising sun you may see Bali's volcanic peaks, Mount Rinjani on Lombok and Lake Batur below. In daylight the guide shows you the crater caves, followed by a walk through lava ash – at one hot spot, raw eggs are cooked in minutes. After the descent we drive to Ubud for the night.
Day 4 – Artists' villages and return
After breakfast the artists' villages around Ubud are on the programme: stonemasons, gold- and silversmiths and woodcarvers, plus the elephant cave Goa Gajah. Then return to your hotel.
