General wedding information

For a civil wedding on Bali (state of Indonesia) the following documents are required:

  1. Certificate of no impediment to marriage – normally issued by the registry office in your home country.
  2. Birth certificates of both partners, each with 3 photocopies.
  3. Passports of both partners, each with 3 photocopies.
  4. 10 passport photos 4 × 6 cm in landscape format – the couple together in one photo (the bride on the groom's left). The photos can also be taken inexpensively at a photo studio on Bali.
  5. 2 witnesses, their passports and 2 photocopies each (witnesses can also be provided free of charge).
  6. If either partner was previously married: a copy of the divorce decree.
  7. Registration form from your hotel on Bali plus 3 photocopies.
  8. Clearance letter – issued on the basis of the certificate of no impediment by your embassy in Indonesia (Jakarta), but applied for on Bali. Processing takes at least 10 days.

Important to know

Under Indonesian law the couple must be married religiously before the civil ceremony and must belong to a religious community. Registrar and priest will come to a hotel or venue of your choice for a fee by arrangement.

All copies of the required documents and the photo can be sent as email attachments up to 8 weeks before the desired wedding date. We take care of the registration with the registry office and priest as well as the processing of all documents in advance. The wedding date must be at least 5 working days after your arrival on Bali.
